2. New Starbucks concept to open in historic downtown Fort Worth fire station. There’s a new Starbucks opening in a historic building in downtown Fort Worth: Fire Station No. 1, located at 203 Commerce St., which proudly served the City of Fort Worth for 114 years, will become a newfangled Starbucks Pickup store, designated for coffee to-go.

3. Buyer comes to the rescue of Luby’s cafeterias in Fort Worth and Texas. A new deal will keep Fort Worth diners eating square fish and mac & cheese for the foreseeable future: Luby’s, the Houston-based restaurant chain, has sold its cafeteria restaurant business to a new corporation founded by entrepreneur Calvin Gin.

4. Fort Worth’s Bass Hall reopens with first-ever Jubilee Theatre show. Jubilee Theatre, in partnership with Performing Arts Fort Worth, will present the musical Southern Boys: Sons of Sharecroppers at Bass Hall from July 29-August 15, marking the first live, in-person performances at the city’s premier performance venue since the beginning of the pandemic. This is also the first time Jubilee has put on a production at Bass Hall. 

5. Elton John stretches out grand finale tour with new show in Arlington. Elton John is coming back one more time to say goodbye. More than three years after the legendary singer announced his expansive “Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour,” he has revealed another extension, a group of dates that will include a concert at Globe Life Field in Arlington on September 30, 2022.
