WEST JORDAN, Utah — Les Schwab Tire Centers recently opened its 500th retail store, a greenfield-construction in West Jordan, a southwest Salt Lake City suburb.
The new store is Bend, Ore.-based Les Schwab’s 29th retail outlet in Utah. West Jordan has a population of nearly 110,000 residents.
Les Schwab did not disclose details of the store’s size or its investment.
To celebrate the opening, the dealership is inviting customers to enter to win a $500 Les Schwab product and service gift certificate. Customers can enter at lesschwab.com/500 until June 20.
With 500 stores, Les Schwab Tire is considered the sixth largest independent tire retailer in the U.S., according to Tire Business calculations. The company’s stores are located in nine western U.S. states — California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
Roughly 50 of the firm’s stores are operated independently.
Meritage Group L.P., a California- and New York-based investment group, bought control of Les Schwab Tire last year, ending 67 years of family ownership.
