Member of the Syndicate of Gas Station Owners, George Brax, denied in an interview with the National News Agency on Saturday the issuance of any central decision to close gas stations until the Ministry of Energy’s new price-fixing schedule is out, noting that “there are stations that have been closed due to the depletion of their stocks, while the stations that still have stocks are still delivering supplies to citizens.”
He pointed out that the General Directorate of Oil and Customs has taken the companies’ stock which will only be delivered once the price schedule is issued, adding there are 6 ships currently at sea awaiting permission to unload, since the prices will be calculated at 3,900 Lebanese pounds per US dollar.
Brax called on the General Directorate of Oil to “issue the price schedule as soon as possible, so that the gas stations can deliver gasoline,” hoping that it would be out before Wednesday so that the citizen would be relieved of the daily suffering of waiting in long queues at petrol stations across the country.
