Housing, regeneration and placemaking development specialist – Cityheart – makes two new senior appointments, bolstering its team and expanding its presence across the UK.

The news follows the company’s major restructure last year,  which saw Warren Taylor take the role of Chief Operating Officer and Jonny Wrigley became Group Chief Executive of the Group – including a new Build to Rent division, Cityheart Homes.

Joining Cityheart from Inland Homes, Benji Slater is appointed to the role of Development Director. He will support Cityheart’s regeneration and Build to Rent projects across the South and Midlands, where he will work alongside Andrew Sanderson and Hilton McCarthy.

“I’m proud to be joining Cityheart at such an exciting time, with so many transformational urban regeneration projects underway and a strong pipeline of new opportunities right across the country.”

Based in Wilmslow, James Litherland also joins Cityheart as its Senior Planning and Development Manager. James has previously worked with Placefirst and The Co-operative Group. Other new strategic hires were also made in Financial Director and Development Director roles.

“Cityheart has a strong track record of taking bold decisions and collaborating with its partners to deliver truly transformational regeneration. I’m looking forward to supporting the team and helping to create sustainable local communities and schemes that have a positive impact on people’s lives.”

With the growing Cityheart team, the company has relocated and doubled its office space in Wilmslow, Cheshire – and is also maintaining its head office in Chester. Later this year, Cityheart also plans to take additional space in London to help service clients and partners across the South.

“We have set out ambitious growth plans for the business and Benji and James will be key in helping us achieve those targets, bringing additional expertise and knowledge to the team. The business enjoys a hardworking, collaborative culture where everyone is motivated to do the very best for our clients, communities and for one another. We are delighted to welcome them both to our team.”

In Stockport, Cityheart is due to complete the transformational new £51.7m Stockport Interchange residential scheme this May. In early 2022, a £12m investment from the Gresham House British Strategic Investment Fund (BSIF) went towards delivering the Build to Rent component of the project. The investment will be delivered via Gresham House’s existing mainstream Build to Rent platform – Rise Homes.

Cityheart has also started work on the Royal George Village scheme, which will deliver a 442 units in a mix of Build to Rent and for sale homes. The company acquired the scheme in December 2023 and began works on site immediately.
