Nintendo has confirmed it will be dropping the price of the standard Nintendo Switch console in Europe, according to VGC.

This follows a series of reports indicating a potential price drop, starting with a tweet from Nintend’Alerts.

The standard price for the Switch console will now be €269.99 and £259.99 in Europe and the UK, respectively. This is a price reduction of €60 and £20.

Nintendo UK relayed to VGC that the decision to drop the console’s price was, in part, “preparation for the launch of the OLED Model next month.” They continued that the new prices would allow for “the price differences between each model in Nintendo’s own retail channel, My Nintendo Store, would be what Nintendo judges to be appropriate for its own store.”

In the US, the current price model for the Switch family of systems is $200 for the Switch Lite, $300 for the Switch, and $350 for the Switch OLED. The $50 price increase for the Switch OLED was met with widespread criticism as the upgrade seemed too minor for the significant price increase.

It is unclear that a global price drop will happen for the standard Switch model.
