Representatives Blumenauer (D-Ore.) and Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) have introduced the Restaurant Revitalization Fund Replenishment Act, legislation that would add an additional $60 billion to the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF), adding to the $28.6 billion in funding provided for the fund in the American Rescue Plan. Senators Sinema (D-Ariz.) and Wicker (R-Mich.) are expected to drop identical language next week.
It is critical that more funding be provided to the Restaurant Revitalization Fund. Hospitality businesses like breweries were severely impacted by COVID-19 and are still working to recover from the impact of the past 15 months. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), since the program began in early May, there were 372,000 applications, representing over $76 billion in requested funds, far surpassing the $28.6 billon Congress provided for the program.
The Brewers Association has been advocating for more funding for the program to help ensure that every brewery and small hospitality business that qualified for funding can receive it. We encourage our members to contact their elected officials and ask them to co-sponsor and pass the Restaurant Revitalization Fund Replenishment Act. Use the association’s contact congress form to send an email to your elected officials today.
