OzTAM’s television ratings system will soon include seven-day viewers figures, for the first time taking into account the fact that many viewers watch shows via catch-up TV services.
Now ratings will be split into two: traditional TV viewing, and streaming on-demand viewing over a week-long period.
Kayo and Binge will be included in the new ratings systems, as will the free-to-air streaming services: ABC iview, SBS On Demand, 9Now, 7Plus and 10play.
“The proposed new report will show – side-by-side in a single report – the consolidated seven metro and regional linear TV audience, the BVOD audience, and the total TV audience,” OzTAM chief executive Doug Peiffer said.
“The aim is to make it easier to see how television content is consumed over a seven-day period and will be easier for journalists to work with than separate linear TV and BVOD reports.”
