After reading blog after blog about video and how important it is in today’s environment, I’m putting my best “face” forward and will be doing videos. I’m not a fan of being in front of a camera, but focusing on someone else gives me the boost I need to “get ‘er done!”
My new foray into videos is in part due to the ActiveRain Challenge for June 2021 – Post – Pandemic “Let Freedom Ring.” I’m excited to venture into video for the first time and will share posts here via the Park Bench site where they will be housed. As an instructor since 2012, going virtual was a huge adjustment and I’m excited to be in front of people again, so I”m expanding that into video. Here we go…..!
Videos are much better than the written word at conveying so much more than a story. Videos can convey an emotion just by the inflection in your voice that aren’t as evident by the written word. Good videos are quick, gather more audience attention, and more widely viewed versus a written article. The visual effects of video can be very powerful!
The videos I’ll produce will be with vendors that I’ve come to know during my last 18 years in real estate, but paricularly those since 2008.
In 2008, when I earned my first green designation as an EcoBroker, I set out to find and interview businesses in sustainability to host on a website. Some of these can be found under the Service tab on my website, Gotgreen.info. Affectionately, these vendors are my “Green Group” referred to on my Linkedin page.
These vendors serve as referral sources for me and my clients and are still housed on the same website, GotGreen.info. Providing these referrals has always been a big part of my business so it seemed natural to interview them first!
Videos will also be hosted on a website that is dedicated to advertising businesses and events in Phoenix and Scottsdale with great SEO, linking to each businesses’ social media and website. The SEO should be super beneficial for all of them!
Expect to see businesses in sustainability, energy efficiency, local retailers, and those that work to lower their carbon footprint. I have a few more in mind that include restaurants that shop local.
Since working in sustainability, I’ve found that these vendors work tirelessly to get their message across. Their work ethic benefits all of us when they help local farmers by purchasing from local sources; help to create more plant based dishes using local farm produce; work to reduce their businesses’ carbon footprint in their buildings; and listen to their customers needs by providing great products and services.
The first interview will be with Dorie Morales, founder of Green Living Magazine. Dorie has worked tirelessly for more than 10 years to promote sustainable businesses, hosting and creating events for those in and around Phoenix and sharing it all in her magazine, Green Living Magazine. She practices what she preaches in her own home in sustainablity and is an excellent source of business referrals.
Dorie’s next event is on all day virtual wellness, June 24, 8 am – 3:30. Attendance doesn’t have to be during that time as viewers can purchase tickets and save the events, viewing during a 2 week period – now that’s sustainable!
Today we ran some practice sessions. Dorie’s a natural. I stumbled but got better. Getting the mics to work with my iphone includes a little known lightening adapter that was listed in the fine print of my Bietrun wireless mic set – done!
The Bietrun wireless mic set is cost effective, very clear sound, and after watching several Youtubes on that product, I bought it prior to meeting Dorie. So Amazon to the rescue with one last piece of equipment before my interview with Dorie.
