In March, the Norwegian Group saw a total of 1,820,702 passengers, with Norwegian carrying 1,544,289 passengers and Widerøe accommodating 276,413 passengers.
Norwegian’s load factor increased to 85 percent, up by 4 percentage points compared to the previous year. The airline also achieved a remarkable regularity rate of 99.6 percent in March, with improved on-time performance compared to previous months.
Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, expressed delight in the strong traffic figures for the month, attributing the boost to the early Easter holiday. He commended the dedication of the staff in maintaining high regularity standards and ensuring a seamless travel experience for customers.
Looking forward, Karlsen highlighted the upcoming vacation season with the launch of a “Spring Sale” campaign. While the booking trends for the summer season are promising, a slight dip in April is expected due to the early Easter holiday this year.
In terms of operational performance, Norwegian operated an average of 73 aircraft in March, maintaining a regularity rate of 99.6 percent. The punctuality rate also improved to 86.7 percent, marking a 6 percentage point increase from the previous year.
Moreover, the airline reported a 10 percent reduction in CO2 emissions per actual passenger kilometer compared to the same period last year. Karlsen emphasized the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, setting a target of cutting emissions by 45 percent by 2030 through fleet renewal, operational efficiency, and the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
