The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne is set to pay tribute to the late blues legend Victor Brox, with a special event planned for Friday, August 23rd at the Pendle Hippodrome. Victor, who had a illustrious career spanning over 60 years and worked with music icons such as Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, and BB King, performed at the inaugural Great British R&B Festival in 1990 with his band Victor Brox Blues Train.
His daughter, Kyla Brox, hailed as “the finest female blues singer of her generation”, will headline the tribute event alongside special guests at 11pm on August 23rd. The festival’s Artistic Directors, Colne Blues Society, have curated a lineup of Manchester-based artists to honor Victor, including Paolo Fuschi & The Outsiders, Franny Eubank & His Blues Band, The Norman Beaker Band, and Kyla Brox & Friends.
Tickets for the tribute night are selling quickly, with Colne Town Council and the Colne Blues Society offering a limited-time discount on Friday night tickets, reducing the price from £40 to £30. Victor Brox, remembered as one of the best UK blues singers and performers of all time, has been praised by music legends Jimi Hendrix and Tina Turner as their favorite white blues singer.
