The Gwangju Biennale, one of Asia’s premier art festivals, has unveiled the lineup for its 2024 edition scheduled to kick off in South Korea on September 7th. Curated by Nicolas Bourriaud, known for his relational aesthetics theory, the exhibition will focus on the role of sound in shaping contemporary life.
The 15th edition, titled “Pansori: A Soundscape of the 21st Century”, aims to explore the transformative potential of sound and encourage reflection on its cultural and social significance. Referencing a 17th-century Korean musical genre, the fair will showcase a diverse range of artists, with their works being introduced by an opera performance during the opening ceremony.
