Rio Tinto, a leading mining company, has announced the appointment of Bold Baatar as the new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to oversee the group’s commercial and business development activities on a global scale. Bold Baatar will be taking over from Alf Barrios, who has made the decision to retire.
Currently serving as the Chief Executive for the copper division, Baatar will assume responsibility for business development immediately and will be relocating to Singapore to start his new role as CCO on September 1, 2024.
Alf Barrios, the outgoing CCO, will continue in his position until the end of August. Following this, he will transition to the role of chair for China, Japan, and Korea, as well as remain a member of the executive committee until his official retirement at the end of 2024.
With Bold Baatar’s extensive experience in the mining industry, Rio Tinto is looking forward to his leadership in driving the company’s commercial strategies and business growth moving forward.
