Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett has been chosen as the jury president for the main competition at this year’s Camerimage Film Festival in Torun, Poland.
Blanchett will oversee the awarding of the festival’s prestigious Golden Frog honor. Expressing her excitement about the role, Blanchett stated, “Films are lightning in a bottle, and I have had the profound creative privilege of working with some of the great cinematographers who have forever changed the way I work and look at the world. To be at EnergaCAMERIMAGE surrounded by them is a dream come true.”
This is not the first time Blanchett has led a festival jury, having previously served at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018 and the Venice International Film Festival in 2020. With a successful acting career that includes two Oscars, Blanchett has appeared in iconic films such as “The Aviator,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” “Elizabeth,” “Notes on a Scandal,” and “Carol.” She is also a respected producer and co-founder of Dirty Films production company.
Marek Żydowicz, the Director of EnergaCAMERIMAGE, praised Blanchett, saying, “Cate is an outstanding artist who defies all definitions. She inspires many people around the world, including the greatest contemporary artists. Her presence at the festival will undoubtedly be extremely creative and inspiring.”
The Camerimage Film Festival is scheduled to take place from November 16 to November 23, 2024.
