New Partners Join Neighborhood Network of Playgroups in Traverse City

Traverse City, MI — Northwest Education Services has announced the addition of several new partners to the Neighborhood Network of Playgroups, a collaborative initiative that aims to provide enriching experiences for families with young children. This program, part of the Great Start Collaborative of Traverse Bay, now includes eight new partners who will host playgroup sessions across the region.

The recently welcomed partners are: Benzie Early Head Start located at 9938 Honor Highway; Clearwater Township Hall in association with Leap of Faith Gymnastics at 5440 River St. NW, Rapid City; the COGNiTiON Science & Discovery Center at 232 N. Michigan Ave., Beulah; Elk Rapids Schools’ Way to Grow program; Lakeland Elementary School at 616 Buckley St., Elk Rapids; Mill Creek Academy at 9039 Old State Highway, Williamsburg; and the Grass River Natural Area at 6500 Alden Highway, Bellaire.

The Neighborhood Network of Playgroups offers families a unique opportunity to engage in early childhood learning activities. Each session provides a facilitated environment where children can enjoy stories and snacks—key components in promoting literacy and social skills. Importantly, participation in these playgroup sessions is free, making it an accessible resource for local families.

This initiative aligns with broader educational goals that emphasize the importance of early childhood development, particularly in fostering a love for reading and exploration among young learners. The Great Start Collaborative’s commitment to creating supportive networks emphasizes community engagement and parental involvement, recognizing that early development lays the foundation for future academic success.

In addition to enhancing social and cognitive skills, these playgroups offer parents a chance to connect with one another, fostering a sense of community and support among families. Engaging in these activities can help reduce feelings of isolation, particularly for new parents navigating the challenges of early childhood.

For families interested in learning more about the playgroup offerings, they can reach out via email at GreatStart@NorthwestEd.org or by phone at 231-342-5400. This initiative not only enhances community ties but also ensures that every child has the opportunity to thrive within an inclusive and nurturing environment.
