Pop sensation Dua Lipa is set to make her mark as a headliner at this year’s Glastonbury festival, sharing the stage with Coldplay and SZA. The 28-year-old singer recently revealed that she has known about her upcoming headline slot for quite some time, receiving an email at the end of her Future Nostalgia tour.
In an interview on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show, Dua shared, “It’s been the biggest secret. Biggest secret ever. I’ve known for a little while… I got an email at the end of my Future Nostalgia tour.” She continued to explain that she kept the news under wraps even from her band until she was well into the process of writing her new album.
Expressing her excitement for the upcoming performance, Dua admitted, “Every time I think about performing these songs, it’s like a rush of electricity goes through my body. I feel like I’m going to get teary talking about it…Glastonbury is just the festival – that one – I’ve loved going just as a fan. And to go up on that stage and perform… it’s all very surreal, it’s my biggest dream.”
The singer emphasized the significance of headlining Glastonbury in her creative process, stating, “When I’m in the studio and I’m writing, the first thought that comes into my mind is, ‘What is this going to sound like at Glastonbury?’ For me, it’s the most beautiful experience that I’ve ever had.”
