UMass Amherst Prepares for Most Ambitious Founders Day Yet
UMass Amherst is gearing up to celebrate Founders Day on Monday, April 29, in what promises to be the most ambitious event yet. This year’s celebration, open to the community beyond campus, is part of a series of activities surrounding the Inauguration of Chancellor Javier Reyes. With over 30 activities, tours, musical performances, and open houses scheduled between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Founders Day serves as an annual opportunity to reflect on the rich history of UMass Amherst, celebrate its current achievements, and look towards the future. The highlight of Founders Day 2024 will be the Campus Cookout from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where the award-winning UMass Dining staff will prepare a free, healthy, and sustainable meal sourced locally.
In addition to the Campus Cookout, attendees can look forward to activities such as viewing the campus from a hot air balloon, enjoying a free concert by the UMass Wind Ensemble, witnessing a glassblowing demonstration at the Scientific Glassblowing Laboratory, experiencing drone flying by UMassAir, and learning about the UMass Okanagan Health Promoting University efforts at “the wellbeing living room.”
