FKA twigs is set to perform Martha Graham’s iconic 1932 solo dance piece, “Satyric Festival Song,” at this year’s Martha Graham Dance Company gala in New York. The gala, happening on April 18 at New York City Center, will honor FKA twigs as one of the dance company’s three annual honorees for her innovative work in music and art.

Janet Eilber, the artistic director of the dance company, expressed her admiration for FKA twigs, describing her as a creative force and change-maker. She highlighted their digital interactions, which led to the decision to celebrate twigs as one of today’s artistic innovators with a performance of Graham’s solo dance piece.

The gala will also include performances of Graham’s works like “The Rite of Spring” from 1984 and “Maple Leaf Rag” from 1990, featuring music by Scott Joplin and costumes by Calvin Klein. This year’s other honorees include Dr. Donna E. Shalala and Adriene Holder.

In recent news, FKA twigs collaborated with UK dance duo Two Shell on the single “Talk to Me.” She is also starring alongside Bill Skarsgård in the remake of the 1994 movie “The Crow,” which released its first trailer last month.
