The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has officially announced the schedule for the 50th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) taking place in December of this year. During a recent press conference, MMDA acting Chair Romando Artes, who is also the head of the MMFF executive committee, revealed that Manila will be the host city for the event.
Artes disclosed that for this year’s festival, the selection committee will choose eight official entries, consisting of four script entries and four finished film entries. The MMFF festival calendar includes key dates such as the deadline for the submission of the letter of intent on May 15, the submission of scripts and required documents on June 14, the submission of finished films based on the script submissions by Sept. 30, the Parade of Stars on Dec. 15, the official film entries being shown from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7, 2025, and the awards night on Dec. 27.
Additionally, Artes mentioned that the MMFF will once again hold the MMFF Student Short Film Caravan to provide students with the opportunity to showcase their talents. This initiative aims to support and promote young, aspiring filmmakers.
