Celebrate World Ocean Day with the Loggerhead Marinelife Center at the Third Annual World Ocean Day Film Festival on June 8. This event, in partnership with the International Ocean Film Foundation, will feature local underwater filmmakers and photographers sharing their stories. Guests can also enjoy a tour of the outdoor sea turtle hospital and watch a series of 11 short, ocean-themed films in the Gordon & Patricia Gray Auditorium.
The festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour and silent auction on the Ocean Sky Deck. Proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting ocean conservation and education efforts by Loggerhead.
The event will continue with a panel discussion and screenings from 6 to 9 p.m. The panelists include Tom Fitz, an Emmy- and BAFTA-winning cameraman, Andrea Whitaker, a biologist and underwater photographer, and Lee Burghard, an award-winning underwater filmmaker. They will share their insights and experiences with the audience.
The film lineup for the festival includes titles like “WILD HOPE: Return of the Manatees,” “The Granny Grommets,” “Shark Researchers: A New Approach to Shark Conservation,” and more.
For a family-friendly experience, join Loggerhead on June 9 for a curated screening of award-winning ocean-centered films. This event will showcase 10 professional and youth-directed films in collaboration with Youth Making Ripples. Attendees can learn about conservation efforts from a sea turtle scientist and meet Pip the Sea Turtle.
Tickets for the festival are priced at per person and include a beverage from Sailfish Brewing Company. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., offering a night of insightful discussions and captivating films.
