Global Citizen Festival to make a comeback at Central Park’s Great Lawn following previous year’s destruction

The Great Lawn in Central Park is set to reopen on April 6, 2024, after undergoing repairs due to damage from last year’s Global Citizen Festival. The festival will also return for its twelfth year on September 28, 2024.

According to an official press release, the Global Citizen Festival’s Board of Directors paid for all repairs necessary to the Great Lawn following the damage caused by heavy rain during the festival in September. Now, after its annual winter closure, the Great Lawn is ready for use by both New Yorkers and visitors alike for various events throughout the warmer months.

The musical extravaganza that is the Global Citizen Festival will once again offer free tickets to attendees who take action through the Global Citizen app or the event’s official website. By making pledges, participants can earn points that will give them entries for a festival draw, although the date of the draw and the lineup for the festival have not been announced.

With Coldplay’s Chris Martin as the curator until 2030, attendees can expect top-tier acts to grace the stage. Past lineups have included big names such as Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Ed Sheeran.

Whether you plan to attend the festival or not, the weather forecast for next week indicates clear skies, making it the perfect time to visit the reopened Great Lawn in Central Park. Make sure to mark your calendars for a visit soon!
