Are you a teenager looking to make a difference in your community while also earning valuable service hours? Look no further! The Teen Task Force at the library offers an incredible opportunity for students in grades 8 through 12 to get involved, learn new skills, and contribute to exciting projects that benefit peers and younger patrons alike. It’s a fantastic way to enhance your resume, gain hands-on experience, and, most importantly, have fun!

What’s the Teen Task Force All About?

The Teen Task Force meets every third Thursday of the month from 4 PM to 5 PM in the cozy Laurel Room of the library. This initiative provides a platform for teens to work alongside library staff on a variety of engaging projects. From planning upcoming teen programs to assisting with day-to-day tasks, participants will get a hands-on look at what goes into making the library a vibrant community hub.

Not only does this program allow you to earn community service hours, but it also gives you a chance to voice your ideas and influence the offerings available for teens at the library. Whether you’re a bookworm, a budding event planner, or simply looking to make new friends, joining the Teen Task Force is an ideal way to find your niche.

Flexible Participation

One of the standout features of the Teen Task Force is its flexibility. There is no long-term commitment required, making it perfect for busy students who juggle schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and social lives. You can participate at your own pace—join in on projects that excite you, offer your ideas when you can, or simply show up to lend a hand. The library welcomes walk-ins, so even if you decide to join last minute, you’re encouraged to drop by!

Community Engagement and Development

Participating in the Teen Task Force isn’t just about helping out; it’s about building your community. Doing volunteer work often helps empower young people to feel connected to their surroundings and gives them a sense of responsibility and ownership. You will work with other teens from various backgrounds, and together, you can create an inclusive space at the library that welcomes everyone.

The skills you develop while working on the Teen Task Force are invaluable. You will refine your teamwork abilities, learn how to communicate effectively, and discover how to manage time and projects efficiently. These experiences will not only improve your personal growth but will also look impressive on college applications or job resumes.
