The Broward Behavioral Health Coalition (BBHC) and its partners hosted a thought-provoking Panel Discussion on the “Connection Between Art and Mental Well-Being” at the Studio 18 Art Complex in Pembroke Pines. The event celebrated the closing of the National Art Exhibitions by the Mentally Ill (NAEMI) 35th Anniversary Art Exhibition, showcasing works by renowned artists like Echo McCallister, Ramon Losa, Jorge Alberto Cadi, Hector Gallo, and Sebastian Ferreira, while attendees enjoyed light refreshments.
The panel discussion, led by distinguished figures including Silvia Quintana, CEO of Broward Behavioral Health Coalition; Senator and Broward County Mayor Nan Rich, Board Chair of BBHC; and Susan Nyamora, CEO of South Florida Wellness Network, delved into the profound relationship between art and mental well-being. They highlighted how art can act as a powerful tool for healing and self-discovery.
Community partners at the event included NAEMI, South Florida Wellness Network, Studio 18 Art Complex, National Endowment for the Arts, City of Pembroke Pines, Florida Arts & Culture, Sunshine Health, Broward County Cultural Division, United Way of Broward County, and Janssen.
The Broward Behavioral Health Coalition is dedicated to dispelling the stigma surrounding mental health and creating a comprehensive and adaptable care system in Broward County.
