New Collaboration Expands Patient-Designed Footwear Collection

Cook Children’s Medical Center and Twisted X Collaborate to Expand Footwear Collection

In a commendable initiative to enhance patient support and community engagement, Cook Children’s Medical Center has announced a collaboration with Twisted X to expand the “Cook Children’s by Twisted X” footwear line to include adult sizes. This development follows the successful launch of the collection in 2023, which featured creatively designed footwear conceptualized by young patients at Cook Children’s.

Natalie Houghton, the director of national and regional partnerships for Cook Children’s, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “The partnership between Cook Children’s and Twisted X reaffirms our commitment to providing both patients and families with individualized resources tailored to their healthcare needs. We continually strive to provide compassionate care and are proud to come together with Twisted X, who shares this philanthropic focus.” This statement underscores the dual mission of improving patient care while fostering creative expression among children facing health challenges.

The expanded collection will continue Twisted X’s commitment to charitable contributions, as the company pledges to donate 100% of wholesale proceeds from each pair sold directly to Cook Children’s. The funds raised will support the Creative Arts Program, a vital initiative that encourages patients to engage in artistic endeavors as a means of healing. Art therapy has been recognized for its ability to help young patients manage stress, build confidence, and facilitate emotional expression. Since the program’s inception, it has positively impacted the lives of 2,700 children, with a total of ,000 donated thus far.

Twisted X CEO Prasad Reddy remarked on the significance of this partnership, stating, “Partnering with Cook Children’s is a chance to make a positive change in our community, and we’re proud to support the Creative Arts Program. We continue to believe that little steps can make a big impact, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see this collection embody the joy of footwear design.”

The updated footwear collection will feature two distinct shoe designs, created by patient-artists Brianna and Alex, who collaborated with Twisted X designer Tuan Le to bring their imaginative visions to fruition. Each shoe is named after the respective young designer and is characterized by a lightweight, slip-resistant design, ensuring both comfort and style. These shoes are designed not only for the medical staff and families of patients but also for supporters of Cook Children’s, promoting a sense of community and collective support for the institution.

This expanded line represents more than just footwear; it embodies a collective commitment to healing, art, and community support, reflecting the innovative spirit and resilience of the children at Cook Children’s.
