Mackenzie, a leading architecture firm, has announced significant growth in its Architecture Department in Portland, Oregon. The firm has promoted Wendell Mueller as the new department head and strategically hired Brian Hjelte to further strengthen its team.
Mueller, who has been with Mackenzie since 1997, will now oversee the logistics and expansion of the architectural discipline at the firm. With extensive experience in working on projects such as corporate campuses, mixed-use developments, and healthcare facilities, Mueller is poised to lead the team to new heights. Alison Hoagland, a member of Mackenzie’s Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Mueller’s abilities, stating, “Our architects and designers are in good hands, and I look forward to what the future holds as he takes the reins.”
On the other hand, Hjelte brings a wealth of experience with 33 years in architectural design and project management to Mackenzie. His portfolio includes work for prestigious higher education institutes such as Oregon Health and Science University, Oregon State University, and Eastern Oregon University. This is not Hjelte’s first time at Mackenzie, as he previously worked at the firm in 1990. Jeff Humphreys, Principal at Mackenzie, expressed his excitement about Hjelte’s return, stating, “We feel very lucky to have him back here, and we are already benefiting from his expertise, focus, and drive.”
With Mueller leading the team and Hjelte’s valuable experience on board, Mackenzie is well-positioned for continued success and growth in the architectural industry.
