Swift Navigation and SK Telecom have joined forces to introduce AI-powered, location-based products in Korea. This strategic partnership involves the implementation of Swift’s Skylark Precise Positioning Service across Korea through a carrier-grade network, enhancing GNSS accuracy to centimeter-level precision from meters.

Skylark, a technology already utilized in over 8 million autonomous and connected devices, will now be available to SK Telecom’s customer base, including the Korea Forest Service. The collaboration aims to enhance positioning accuracy for various mobility platforms, ensuring compliance with stringent safety and cybersecurity protocols.

The key points of this partnership include the joint operation of a network by Swift and SK Telecom to provide high-precision positioning services using Skylark across Korea. This technological advancement is crucial for applications such as autonomous vehicles, UAVs, and robotic equipment.

SK Telecom is integrating Skylark into various high-precision applications, including forest management services for the Korea Forest Service. Drive tests conducted by SK Telecom have demonstrated Skylark’s superior lane-level positioning accuracy compared to standard GNSS technology.

Holger Ippach, EVP of Product & Marketing at Swift, and Takki Yu, VP and Head of Infra Tech Office at SK Telecom, have expressed their commitment to advancing precise positioning solutions in Korea. They believe that this collaboration will lead to safer and more efficient navigation technologies in the region.

Both companies are dedicated to leveraging AI technology to improve GNSS positioning services for various mobility platforms, including autonomous vehicles and smartphones. They are focused on offering innovative and high-integrity services to their customers in Korea.
