Rinnai America Corporation Partners with Habitat for Humanity Canada to Enhance Affordable Housing Initiatives

Rinnai America Corporation, a leader in innovative energy-efficient water heating solutions, has announced a significant partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada aimed at addressing the critical shortage of affordable and sustainable housing across the nation. This collaboration will see Rinnai donate 48 of its Rinnai Electric Heat Pump (REHP) Water Heaters, which will be integrated into nine Habitat projects over the course of 2025 and 2026.

This initiative highlights Rinnai’s commitment to “Creating a healthier way of living®” and aligns seamlessly with Habitat for Humanity’s mission to foster communities by producing homes and instilling hope among families. The donated REHP units will be shipped from Rinnai’s newly established distribution center in Ontario, with installations set to occur in various residential projects, including duplexes, townhomes, and multifamily units. Through this partnership, Rinnai contributes to the Canadian government’s broader objectives of electrification and carbon reduction.

Frank Windsor, the president of Rinnai America Corporation, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada allows us to make a meaningful difference at both the community and household level. By supplying our newest generation of heat pump water heaters to these projects, we’re helping families create a healthier way of living and the opportunity to enjoy a comfortable and efficient home, while advancing sustainable housing solutions that align with Canada’s energy future.”

The collaboration addresses both local and community needs effectively. The donation from Rinnai not only aids in reducing construction costs for Habitat projects but also ensures that each home benefits from a dependable hot water supply, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

Pedro Barata, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada, remarked on the importance of such collaborations, stating, “Partnerships like this are essential to our work. By working with innovative companies like Rinnai, we’re able to install energy-efficient systems in Habitat homes that ultimately lower energy use and cut utility costs for homeowners, helping to ensure that the homes we build will remain affordable for years to come.”

Equipped with a 4.0 Uniform Energy Factor (UEF), the REHP Water Heaters employ cutting-edge heat-pump technology, enabling efficient hot water delivery while achieving energy reductions of up to 60% when compared to traditional electric models. Its compact, zero-clearance design further enhances its applicability for multi-unit and affordable housing developments, allowing effortless installation even within constrained spaces.

Daniel Zrubak, General Manager of Rinnai Canada, emphasized the significance of the initiative: “We’re proud to support Habitat for Humanity construction teams with an easy-to-install, zero-emissions water heater that brings homeowners lasting peace of mind.”

As both organizations explore opportunities for expanding their partnership, they remain committed to promoting access to energy-efficient housing solutions throughout Canada. This collaboration stands as a testament to corporate responsibility in the housing sector, tackling not only the immediate need for affordability but also addressing long-term sustainability goals.
