Policy makers are set to convene in Washington next week for the annual IMF – World Bank spring meetings. The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, has highlighted the significance of these meetings for the global economy at this critical juncture.
Participants in the discussions will include Qu Qiang, Assistant Director of the International Monetary Institute at China’s Renmin University, Anthony Chan, former Chief Economist for JP Morgan Chase and Company, Klisman Murati, Managing Director of Pareto Economics and Creator of the Global Power Index, and Otaviano Canuto, Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South and former Vice President and Executive Director at the World Bank.
Kristalina Georgieva also tweeted about the rise of industrial policy and the importance of fiscal policies that support innovation and technology diffusion for better economic results.
One of the major agenda items at the upcoming meetings will be funding for the International Development Association (IDA). Experts, including Homi Kharas, are advocating for increased donor support for the IDA.
