Dr. Sanjay S. Reddy, a distinguished Associate Professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been selected to participate in the inaugural Career Catalyst Mentorship Program by the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO).
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Reddy called it an honor to be chosen for this competitive award by the esteemed society. The SSO, a global organization of over 3,000 surgical oncologists, is dedicated to enhancing multidisciplinary patient care through the advancement of cancer surgery worldwide.
The Career Catalyst Mentorship Program aims to support mid-career surgical oncologists with leadership potential. Participants like Dr. Reddy are paired with SSO member mentors based on their specific interests, which may include hospital administration, research leadership, academic surgical leadership, community practice systems, education leadership, and cancer center directorship.
Scheduled to commence prior to the SSO 2024 Annual Meeting in Atlanta from March 20-23, the program includes educational sessions focusing on leadership skills and organizational leadership.
Excited about the opportunities ahead, Dr. Reddy highlighted that the mentorship program will involve a two-year commitment, a five-day observership at the mentor’s institution, and bimonthly webinars for continuous learning and guidance.
Apart from his role as the Program Director of the Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Fox Chase, Dr. Reddy is also the Marvin S. Greenberg, MD, Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery and Co-Director of the Marvin & Concetta Greenberg Pancreatic Cancer Institute.
Having been actively involved in mentorship at Fox Chase, Dr. Reddy has been instrumental in teaching and guiding residents and fellows, drawing inspiration from renowned pancreatic cancer surgeon Dr. John Hoffman. Dr. Hoffman, a former Marvin S. Greenberg, MD, Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery, has played a crucial role in shaping Dr. Reddy’s career.
Looking forward to the unique learning experiences that lie ahead, Dr. Reddy sees this award as a platform to advance both his personal growth and the institutional standing of Fox Chase in academic leadership for surgical oncology.
