‘TAP Air Portugal introduces in-flight movie festival’

TAP Launches Altitude Film Fest Onboard for Passengers

TAP has introduced its inaugural onboard Film Festival, the Altitude Film Fest, as a celebration of the cinematic world. This initiative aims to offer a unique experience to passengers while showcasing Portugal, its culture, and traditions.

The Altitude Film Fest provides TAP passengers with the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive selection of films while flying at 30,000 feet, enhancing their entertainment options onboard.

Filmmakers from around the globe are invited to participate in two categories, documentary and fiction short films. These films will be screened and judged on TAP’s extensive in-flight entertainment system, allowing filmmakers to reach a broader audience.

To qualify, films must focus on Portuguese culture or have parts filmed in Portugal. TAP will select a panel of judges comprising influential personalities from the film industry to choose the top 10 finalist films in each category.

During October 2024, all films will be available for viewing on TAP’s in-flight entertainment system, where passengers can watch and vote for their favorite films through a survey on the screen.

Winners will be determined through a combination of votes from passengers and the festival’s official jury, with the awards ceremony scheduled for World Cinema Day on November 5, 2024, in Lisbon.

The Grand Prize winners for Best Fiction Film and Best Documentary will each receive a travel grant worth 3,000 euros. This award not only recognizes the excellence of the films but also provides filmmakers with the opportunity to explore new destinations and gain inspiration for future projects.

Registration for the Altitude Film Fest is free, and filmmakers can submit their entries until June 30, 2024. Don’t miss the chance to showcase your talent and compete in this exciting festival onboard TAP flights.
