Yorkshire Sculpture Park, in collaboration with The Robert Indiana Legacy Initiative, presents “Robert Indiana: The Sweet Mystery,” a feature event of the 60th International Venice Biennale. Curated by Matthew Lyons, this exhibition showcases the work of renowned artist Robert Indiana (1928–2018), offering a profound exploration of the human experience, faith, queer identity, and self-reflection through his unique assemblage and Pop art techniques. With a focus on more than fifty years of Indiana’s artistic output, the exhibition invites new audiences to ponder metaphysical themes in the context of modern life.
Located on the second floor of the Procuratie Vecchie, the exhibition is accompanied by an interactive display on the third floor, sponsored by Generali, titled “A World of Potential.” This hub addresses social inclusion, innovation, and sustainability, welcoming the international community to engage with these pressing issues.
For those interested in delving deeper into Indiana’s work, a fully illustrated catalogue featuring new scholarship by Clare Lilley, Allan Schwartzman, and Matthew Lyons will be available. Press inquiries can be directed to Polskin Arts for international media or Studio ESSECI for Italian media.
The exhibition is open to the public from April 20 to November 24, 2024, with varying hours of operation. More information, including ticketing details, can be found on the official website at robertindianavenice2024.com. For any other inquiries, please contact indiana@dh-office.com.
