North Carolina Truck Show Set to Fuel Children’s Charity Efforts
Get ready, truck enthusiasts and community supporters! The picturesque town of Mount Airy, North Carolina, is revving up for the annual Mayberry Truck Show and convoy on September 27th and 28th, promising an exciting weekend filled with custom trucks, a lively parade, and a spectacular concert topped off with dazzling fireworks. But this isn’t just any truck show; it’s a heartfelt fundraiser aimed at making a significant impact on the lives of children facing medical challenges.
Hosted at Bottomley Enterprises Trucking, this year’s event is particularly special, as it aims to benefit the Brenner Children’s Patient Assistance Fund. This charitable initiative provides crucial support to families with children receiving treatment at Brenner Children’s Hospital, ensuring they can focus on caring for their little ones without the added stress of financial strain. The dedication behind this fundraiser stems from the personal experiences of CEO Mitchell Bottomley, who witnessed the struggle of families during his son’s hospitalization.
A Personal Mission
Mitchell Bottomley’s inspiration for the truck show and its charitable endeavors took root during a challenging time in his life. As he recalls, “A few years ago, while my son was in the hospital, a child in the bed next to his cried as his mom had to leave him to go to work.” This moment struck a chord in Bottomley, prompting him to act. “I decided right then if I ever had the opportunity to help a mom not to have to choose between staying with their child or going to work, I would. This cause is near and dear to me and my team.”
His determination has led to a remarkable outcome: over the years, the Mayberry Truck Show has raised more than million for the Brenner Children’s Patient Assistance Fund. This fund is a vital resource for families battling unforeseen hardships, allowing them to cover basic expenses like transportation, lodging, and meals while their children undergo treatment.
A Community Event with a Heartfelt Cause
Assembling the trucking community together, the Mayberry Truck Show is designed to be a celebration of these magnificent machines while also serving a deeper purpose. Attendees can expect to see an array of customized trucks, from classic rigs to modern marvels, all vying for attention and admiration. In addition to the truck displays, a parade will wind through the town, bringing the vibrant spirit of the trucking community to the streets.
After the parade, the festivities continue with live music performances that are sure to entertain crowds of all ages. As night falls, the grand finale will be a breathtaking fireworks display that lights up the sky, symbolizing not only the joy of the event but also the hope it brings to families in need.
A Note of Gratitude
Alisa L. Starbuck, the president of Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital and vice president of Women’s and Children’s Health Services at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, expressed her gratitude towards Bottomley and the truck show for their continued support. “We are so grateful to Mitchell for his generosity,” Starbuck said. “This support of our Patient Assistance Fund means so much to the families of our young patients and helps ease some of the financial burdens that come with having a child in the hospital.”
