UPM Raflatac, a leading label manufacturer, has recently received recognition from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for three of its biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) label products designed for HDPE and PP package recycling. The recognized products include Undecorated BOPP with hotmelt adhesive, Undecorated BOPP with RW85C, and Metalized undecorated BOPP with general purpose acrylic adhesive.
The APR Design for Recyclability Recognition validates that UPM Raflatac’s BOPP products are compatible with the North American recycling system, meeting the highest criteria for recyclability according to the APR Design Guide. These recognitions signify UPM Raflatac’s dedication to sustainable solutions and commitment to a circular economy.
Kyle Strenski, business director at UPM Raflatac Americas, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “We are honored to once again be recognized for our continued commitment to supporting the transition to a more circular economy. This new guidance will help us further provide more sustainable solutions to our customers and brand owners.”
Steve Alexander, APR president and CEO, also commended UPM Raflatac for their efforts in improving recyclability and receiving APR Design Recognition. He emphasized the importance of recyclable packaging in reducing waste, optimizing natural resources, and increasing the availability of high-quality post-consumer resin for new products.
