Winners of the Film Festival in Berlin

The Berlin Film Festival recently concluded with the announcement of this year’s winners. Mati Diop, a French-Senegalese director, made history by becoming the first black director to win a Golden Bear for her documentary “Dahomey.” The international jury, which included Kristen Stewart as president, awarded the prestigious honor to Diop.

Sebastian Stan received the Best Leading Performance award for his role in Aaron Schimberg’s dark comedy “A Different Man,” while Emily Watson was recognized for Best Supporting Performance for her portrayal of a mother superior in 1980s Ireland in “Small Things Like These.” The Berlin Festival has been awarding gender-neutral acting prizes for the past three years.

Additionally, Korean director Hong Sangsoo took home the Grand Jury Prize for his character comedy “A Traveler’s Needs,” featuring Isabelle Huppert as a Frenchwoman in Seoul.
