Abu Dhabi Customs Achieves Remarkable Growth in Digital Transactions

Abu Dhabi Customs has reported exceptional results in digital customs transactions through the ports of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 2023. The administration revealed a significant growth of 72 percent compared to 2022, marking the highest rate since the start of the strategic transformation journey.

Proactive and automated transactions played a key role in this growth, accounting for 42 percent of the total customs transactions volume. This segment saw a growth of 24.3 percent in 2023. Abu Dhabi Customs introduced a proactive insurance refund service for customers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, streamlining processes such as truck transit permits and customs certificates issuance automatically alongside customs declaration preparation.

Customs declarations experienced a 6 percent growth last year, with pre-arrival customs clearance transactions making up 47 percent of the total customs clearance procedures across various customs ports in the emirate. This represent a 20 percent increase compared to 2022.

Express shipping companies saw a 6 percent increase in transactions, and customs clearance in bonded warehouses surged by 150 percent. The clearance time improved by 16 percent in 2023, and Abu Dhabi Customs services achieved a remarkable 95 percent customer satisfaction index through the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Services Platform “TAMM.”

The growth in digital transactions in 2023 showcases Abu Dhabi Customs’ successful investments in advanced technology, smart solutions, and modern systems to enhance its customs ecosystem and align with global best practices. The administration’s focus on improving operational efficiency has paid off, positioning it as a leader in digital transformation in the customs sector.
