BNP Paribas Fortis reported a net profit of 3.095 billion euros in 2023, surpassing the 3 billion euro mark for the second consecutive year. The annual figures, released on Friday, showed a slight decline of 1.3 percent compared to the previous year. Net income for BNP Paribas Fortis totaled 10.55 billion euros, with a 9.1 percent increase on a comparable basis pushing the figure beyond the 10 billion mark. Higher interest income was a key factor in driving growth for the bank.
The bank has proposed a dividend of 5.01 euros to its sole shareholder, the French major bank BNP Paribas. The Belgian state holds approximately 5.3 percent interest in the French parent bank.
Overall, the financial results for BNP Paribas Fortis in 2023 reflect a strong performance, despite the challenges faced in the economic landscape.
