Update: Missing Wisconsin Teens Found Safe in Lincoln
Lincoln, Nebraska — The search for two missing teenagers, Madilyn Short and Braylon Timlin, was successfully concluded late Thursday afternoon when the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) reported they had been located safely.
Short and Timlin, both 15 years old and originally from Wisconsin, were last seen at a residence in Lincoln near the intersection of 98th and Holdrege streets. The LPD had issued an urgent appeal for public assistance earlier in the day, stating that the two teens were believed to have attempted to check into the People’s City Mission, a local shelter known for providing assistance to homeless individuals and community members in need.
Madilyn Short is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was reportedly wearing a maroon shirt and black leggings. Meanwhile, Braylon Timlin stands at 6 feet tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He has similarly brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen dressed in a maroon shirt, blue jeans, and cowboy boots, carrying a black backpack.
The quick response from law enforcement and the engagement of the community were pivotal in the successful resolution of the case. Authorities have urged anyone with information about similar situations or potential sightings of missing individuals to come forward promptly.
The incidents of young individuals running away from home, while not uncommon, often highlight broader issues such as familial relationships, mental health, and the need for supportive environments for troubled youth. Organizations such as the People’s City Mission play a crucial role in addressing the immediate needs of such youths, providing shelter, food, and counseling services.
The LPD emphasized the importance of community involvement in ensuring the safety of its residents, especially minors. They encouraged citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to local law enforcement agencies.
