Health Management Associates, a reputable healthcare research and consulting firm based in Lansing, Michigan, has recently announced the appointment of Charles (Chuck) Milligan as its new chief executive officer. Milligan, who has been serving as the firm’s chief operating officer since 2020, will take over the position on May 17, succeeding the retiring CEO, Douglas Elwell.
Elwell, who has been with HMA for 15 years and held the CEO position since November 2020, has been praised for his exceptional leadership in expanding the firm’s expertise to meet client needs. Prior to his role as CEO, Elwell served as the COO and managing principal in the Indianapolis office. Furthermore, he has a strong background in healthcare, having worked as the Illinois Medicaid director and deputy CEO for finance and strategy at the Cook County Health and Hospitals System.
