Arise Cares: A Legacy of Compassionate Home Healthcare

Jay and Melody Vachal found themselves in the challenging position of needing consistent medical care for their son. This personal experience spurred them to founding Arise Cares, a home care agency dedicated to serving families in St. Cloud, Minneapolis, and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Their goal was to create a reliable service tailored to the unique needs of families facing similar challenges.

“Our ambition was to establish a service that combined consistency and compassion, tailored to our family’s requirements. When we discovered that such services were either inadequate or unavailable, we knew we had to take initiative,” shared Melody Vachal, who serves as the agency’s director of aging and outreach. Over the last three decades, Arise Cares has successfully evolved into a robust provider of home-based care for individuals with disabilities, veterans, and seniors, while continuing to support their families.

The organization remains family-owned, with Jay at the helm as CEO and their daughter, Brenna Vachal, managing operations and communications. This familial foundation deepens the agency’s commitment to client satisfaction and community service. Arise Cares emphasizes the importance of helping seniors age in place, allowing them to remain in their homes for as long as possible. Their home care services encompass a wide range of assistance, including personal care and light housekeeping, customized based on individual needs.

Melody highlighted that Arise Cares caters to a diverse clientele, with provisions for disabled individuals who qualify for Medicaid, as well as seniors who either pay privately, utilize long-term care insurance, or access veteran benefits. “Our objective is to enhance our clients’ quality of life and independence,” she stated. Skilled caregivers work to foster an environment where clients feel secure in their homes, as many clients express a strong desire to remain at home for life.

To develop comprehensive care plans, nurses at Arise Cares assess potential clients’ physical, emotional, and medical needs, often involving family members in the process. “Flexibility is crucial; aging can bring unexpected changes, and we aim to create care plans that evolve alongside our clients’ needs,” Melody explained.

In recent years, the agency has expanded beyond St. Cloud to reach the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities, which allows for a broader impact. “Expansion allows us to provide compassionate, professional care to more families while enhancing our hiring capabilities,” Melody added.

One of the noteworthy aspects of this growth is the focus on supporting family caregivers through initiatives such as phone consultations, educational events, and personalized coaching. These efforts stem from Melody’s own caregiving experience. “We aim to uplift caregivers who may be unsure of their next steps,” she remarked, indicating a commitment to holistic family support.

Arise Cares also provides complimentary in-home consultations to demystify the home care process for prospective clients and their families. As the company looks to the future, Melody envisions further geographical expansion and service diversification. She remains dedicated to developing the skills of caregivers through advanced training and partnerships with other healthcare providers, all aimed at delivering comprehensive support tailored to family needs.

“By enhancing our caregivers’ training and education, we hope to instill a lasting impact on individuals receiving care and their families alike,” she concluded. “Our mission is to enable everyone to live their best life, whatever that may entail.”

Through its commitment to quality care and community support, Arise Cares exemplifies a model of compassionate healthcare rooted in personal experience and driven by a family-centered philosophy.
