The 10th annual Mount Dora Blueberry Festival is set to celebrate local blueberry farms with a variety of fresh blueberry-based foods and plants in April. The event will be held on April 27th and 28th, 2024, at Donnelly Park in Mount Dora, Florida.
Event Coordinator Janet Gamache shared, “After years of trial and error, we have found that the last weekend in April is the perfect time to highlight local blueberries. The crops are sweet, ripe, and perfect for picking.” Lake County, Florida is home to over a dozen blueberry farms that offer fresh blueberries for commercial shipping and U-Pick during April-May each year.
Visitors can expect to enjoy a wide range of blueberry-inspired treats at the festival, from pies and pastries to jams and beverages, all made with locally sourced blueberries. In addition to blueberry products, local farms will be showcasing and selling fresh products such as honey, fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Blueberry bushes will also be available for those interested in growing their own.
A highlight of the festival will be the serving of blueberry pancakes each morning and blueberry pies made by Umatilla High School’s culinary class. Blueberries will be available for purchase by the pint or flat, freshly picked from local farms.
Aside from blueberry-themed treats, visitors can explore a variety of vendors offering artisanal food products and unique gifts. The festival will also feature a Pie Eating contest at 2 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with participants able to register at the INFO booth before 1 pm.
Donnelly Park, located at 530 N. Donnelly St. in Mount Dora, FL, will host the event from 9 am to 5 pm on both days. Attendees can avoid traffic by taking the free shuttle at 900 Lincoln Ave. The festival is free to attend and promises a weekend filled with family-friendly fun and delicious blueberry delights.
