The iconic Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. is expected to take a scheduled year off in 2026, as confirmed by co-organizer Emily Eavis. The festival traditionally takes a break every five years to allow the land at Worthy Farm to recover, with the last official pause occurring in 2018. The festival was also not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Emily Eavis expressed her dream of having Kate Bush headline the festival in the future. Kate Bush, who has not performed live since her London residency in 2014, has been a rumored headliner for festivals such as Coachella but has never been booked. Eavis remains hopeful for Bush’s appearance, noting that previous headliner Elton John was once considered a “pipe dream”.
Kate Bush, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year, experienced a resurgence in 2022 when her song “Running Up That Hill” was featured in Netflix’s Stranger Things. While headliners for 2025 have not been announced, Eavis mentioned that she has some ideas in mind.
The upcoming festival, starting on June 26th, will be headlined by Dua Lipa in her first U.K. festival headlining slot, along with Coldplay and SZA. The lineup also includes Shania Twain, LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz, and PJ Harvey.
