Orlando’s Chief Information Officer Rosa Akhtarkhavari is stepping down after dedicating 32 years to the city. The news was officially announced through the city’s LinkedIn page, expressing gratitude for her dedication to improving city operations and delivering top-notch technology solutions. Akhtarkhavari began her journey with Orlando in 1992 as an application developer and gradually moved up the ranks, holding various positions such as IT financial application manager, IT application administrator, IT strategic support manager, chief security officer, and deputy CIO.
In 2010, she assumed the role of the city’s CIO and later added the position of deputy chief financial officer in November 2021. Her last day with the city will be Friday, as a national recruitment process is already underway to find her successor. Akhtarkhavari’s departure marks the end of an era, but she leaves behind a strong foundation for Orlando’s technological future. We wish her the best as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.
