“New Aion V Electric SUV Draws T-Rex Comparisons, According to GAC”

GAC has recently unveiled the second-generation Aion V electric SUV, showcasing a completely new design and platform. The SUV, inspired by the Tyrannosaurus Rex, made its debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show with a design that GAC claims resembles the fierce dinosaur, although it features a friendlier appearance and a generic profile.

This new Aion V model comes with a cutting-edge design that sets it apart from its predecessor. The compact-sized electric SUV, which measures 4,605 mm (181.3 inches) in length and has a 2,775 mm (109.3 inches) wheelbase, will be available in global markets, signaling GAC’s ambitious expansion plans beyond China.

One of the key highlights of the Aion V is its brand-new AEP modular architecture and liquid-cooled electric powertrain, which provides 20 percent more interior space compared to similar vehicles. The strong battery performance offers a remarkable 750 km (466 miles) of driving range with a 15-minute charging capability to add up to 370 km (230 miles) of range.

The interior of the Aion V promises to be technology-packed, featuring AI technology that caters to individual user needs. Additionally, its design allows for the front and rear seats to fold flat, transforming into a bed, making it ideal for camping. The SUV also comes equipped with the ADiGO Pilot ADAS suite, consisting of 11 cameras, 5 radars, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for enhanced safety.

GAC plans to kick off sales of the Aion V in China by July 2024, with intentions to expand to other markets worldwide. The company is also looking into a potential collaboration with Toyota to launch a variant of the Aion V under the Toyota branding in China. As part of its global brand strategy, GAC is set to open new factories in Thailand and Indonesia to further expand its presence in the electric vehicle market.
