Director Trân Anh Hùng took home the prestigious Best Director award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival for his latest masterpiece, “The Taste of Things.” The film is set to premiere at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center on February 23.
“The Taste of Things” is a captivating story set in France in 1889, following the journey of Dodin Bouffant, a talented chef who lives with his personal cook and lover, Eugénie. Despite their shared history of gastronomy and love, Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, prompting him to embark on a culinary adventure like never before – cooking for her.
Rated PG-13, “The Taste of Things” will be screening at the Ross Media Arts Center until March 7, offering audiences a glimpse into the world of culinary passion and unrequited love.
In addition to the highly anticipated premiere, the 2024 Oscar Shorts will also be showcased at the Ross Media Arts Center. For the 19th consecutive year, ShortsTV and Magnolia Pictures present the Oscar-Nominated Short Films in all three categories – providing viewers with the opportunity to predict the winners and stay ahead in their Oscar pools. Don’t miss out on this year’s selection of shorts, a favorite among audiences worldwide. The Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 10.
Festival passes, granting admission to all three programs, can be purchased at the Ross Box Office. The animation and live action programs are suggested for an R rating due to adult themes, while the documentary program is recommended for PG-13 audiences. The screenings will run until February 29.
