News Conference to be Hosted by The Oakland International Film Festival Featuring Mario Van Peebles’ “Outlaw Posse”

The Oakland International Film Festival, presented by the Oakland Film Society, is set to host a news conference about Mario Van Peebles’ latest film, “Outlaw Posse,” ahead of special screenings at the Grand Lake Theater. The event will feature appearances by both Van Peebles and Oakland actress Scytorya Rhodes.

The news conference, scheduled for Monday, April 29th, will be led by David Roach, Co-Founder & Executive Director of the Oakland International Film Festival. It will serve as a platform to promote Van Peebles’ new film and announce the upcoming festival dates, set for September 12-21, 2024.

“Outlaw Posse” boasts a star-studded cast, including Mandela Van Peebles, Whoopi Goldberg, Neil McDonough, Edward James Olmos, Cedric The Entertainer, and Cam Gigandet.

The event will take place in person at R.B.A. Creative in Oakland, as well as virtually via Zoom. The special screenings of “Outlaw Posse” at the Grand Lake Theater will follow the next day, on April 30th, at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The Oakland International Film Festival aims to showcase the city as a hub for artistic talent and cultural diversity. Van Peebles’ latest project aligns with the festival’s multicultural theme and shines a positive light on the African Diaspora.
