Vulcan Works, a serviced workspace hub for startup businesses in Northampton, has been recognized for its positive impact on the county since opening its doors in February 2023.

The Gold Positive Impact Award was presented at the Northamptonshire SME Awards ceremony on Thursday 2nd May, with judges commending Vulcan Works for innovating and adapting their business to not only thrive but also benefit the wider community.

Despite being operational for only 15 months, Vulcan Works has become an integral part of the local business community. It has provided support to young businesses and startups in the digital and creative industries by offering office, workshop, and coworking spaces, as well as organizing events and providing business support. The center has also collaborated with national partners like Barclays and Natwest, as well as local organizations to offer practical support, networking opportunities, and workshops. In January, Vulcan Works launched its own incubation program for entrepreneurs called Vulcan Creatives.

Moreover, the team at Vulcan Works has extended their support to local groups and organizations by providing workspace to facilitate arts events and projects. The opening of Vulcan Works has also positively impacted footfall in the Cultural Quarter, benefitting other businesses in the area.

Garrick Hurter, the Centre Manager at Vulcan Works, expressed his pride and honor in receiving the Positive Impact Award, attributing the success to the collective effort of the team. He emphasized the goal of creating an inspiring and collaborative workspace, fostering a community where businesses can thrive in Northamptonshire.

In addition to winning the Positive Impact Award, Vulcan Works was also a finalist in the Business Innovation category for its innovative renovation of derelict council buildings to create a space for startup businesses in the creative and digital industries. The project was funded by local entities and received contributions from various sources.

Cllr Dan Lister, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Town Centre Regeneration and Growth, shared his vision for Vulcan Works to have a positive impact on the local business community. He highlighted the unique business support and community hub provided by Vulcan Works, expressing optimism about the center’s future growth.
