Stellantis’ Dodge division is embracing electrification with the release of its 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T with Powershot, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). In a video titled “Inner Child Intervention,” Dodge emphasizes the importance of torque in this new model, highlighting its performance capabilities.

The Dodge Hornet, offered in AWD GT and R/T versions, marks the brand’s entry into the electrified vehicle market. The Hornet R/T boasts a 1.3-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that delivers 258 horsepower, with an additional boost to 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque from the PowerShot feature. This allows the R/T to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 128 mph. With three driving modes – E-Save, Electric, and Hybrid – drivers can choose between maximizing efficiency or unleashing full power.

In terms of technology, the 2024 Dodge Hornet GT and R/T models come equipped with UConnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. Optional Dodge Connect service offers Hybrid Electric Pages, allowing drivers to customize drive modes, manage charging schedules, and monitor power usage. Safety features include blind spot detection, forward collision warning, and rear parking sensors, with additional options like active driving assist and 360-degree surround view camera.

The 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T with Powershot is now available at Dodge dealerships, starting at ,995 including destination fee. This model is poised to appeal to drivers who seek a balance of performance, efficiency, and cutting-edge technology in their vehicles.
