Samsung has introduced a new exclusive set of AI tools called Galaxy AI with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 phones. The good news is that if you own an older Samsung flagship device and are not looking to upgrade, you will still be able to experience Galaxy AI. Samsung has announced that One UI 6.1 will be rolled out to older phones on the 28th of March, bringing Galaxy AI features to these devices.
The update will be available for the Galaxy S23 phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 foldables, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Users can expect features like Circle to Search, Generative Edit for photo editing, Live Translate, and Chat Assist for the Samsung Keyboard app.
Unfortunately, older flagship phones from 2022 like the Galaxy S22 may not receive the update due to possible hardware limitations. However, Samsung’s mobile chief has hinted at the possibility of a hybrid model that could potentially bring AI to older phones in the future.
While there is no guarantee yet, there is hope that Galaxy AI could eventually make its way to entry and mid-range Samsung devices. Keep an eye out for the update on the 28th of March if you own any of the mentioned devices.
