UPS Extends Contract for Renewable Natural Gas Fuel Systems
UPS, a leading package delivery company, has announced a three-year extension on its supply contract with Hexagon Agility for renewable natural gas (RNG) fuel systems. This decision will ensure that medium- and heavy-duty trucks in UPS’s fleet continue to operate with sustainable energy sources.
The new contract is valued at US.7 million and will cover the delivery of RNG fuel systems for heavy-duty trucks, including those equipped with the new 15-liter X15N natural gas engine. Eric Bippus, EVP of sales and system development at Hexagon Agility, highlighted the company’s track record of supporting over 100,000 near-zero-emission vehicles globally.
UPS has been at the forefront of sustainable transportation, and this partnership with Hexagon Agility demonstrates their commitment to enhancing their fleet with innovative technologies like the X15N engine. Deliveries of the new RNG orders are expected to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024, with the majority scheduled for the second half of the year.
This extension of the contract underscores UPS’s dedication to reducing emissions and advancing environmentally friendly practices in its operations. By continuing to utilize RNG fuel systems, UPS is making strides towards a more sustainable future for the transportation industry.
