The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has announced remarkable results in digital customs transactions across the ports of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 2023. There was a significant growth of 72 percent compared to the previous year, marking the highest rate since the implementation of the strategic transformation journey.
It was revealed that proactive and automated transactions made up 42 percent of the total customs transactions volume, showing a growth of 24.3 percent in 2023. Abu Dhabi Customs introduced a proactive insurance refund service for customers in the emirate, alongside the automatic issuance of truck transit permits, entry and exit permits for goods, customs certificates for vehicles, and customs entry and exit certificates upon the completion of the customs declaration process.
Furthermore, customs declarations experienced a 6 percent increase over the past year, with pre-arrival customs clearance transactions representing 47 percent of all customs clearance procedures at various ports in the emirate. This marked a growth of 20 percent compared to 2022.
The transactions of express shipping companies saw a 6 percent increase, while customs clearance in bonded warehouses saw a notable growth of 150 percent. Clearance time also improved by 16 percent in 2023, reflecting the efforts of Abu Dhabi Customs to streamline operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
The outstanding performance in 2023 demonstrates the successful digital transformation efforts of Abu Dhabi Customs, showcasing investments in advanced technology, smart solutions, and modern systems to enhance the customs ecosystem and align with global best practices. This focus on innovation has significantly improved operational efficiency and customer service, as evidenced by the impressive 95 percent customer satisfaction index score on the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Services Platform “TAMM.”
