Florida residents and visitors are invited to participate in the Florida WildQuest 2024 event hosted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). This annual event will take place from April 27 to May 5 and offers participants the opportunity to embark on a wild adventure, complete scavenger hunt missions, and explore some of Florida’s best wildlife spots using the GooseChase app.
To join the adventure, participants can follow these simple steps:
1. Find the closest Wildlife Management Area (WMA) using the WMA Recreation Finder Map.
2. Ensure your phone is charged and download the GooseChase app.
3. Stay safe by sticking to marked roads and trails suitable for your skill level.
4. Pack essential supplies like water, sunscreen, and snacks for the journey.
5. Take a picture of the welcome sign at the main entrance of the WMA for reference and grab a guide if available.
Participants of all ages will have the chance to discover Florida’s extensive WMA system and learn about the state’s wildlife, habitats, and recreational opportunities during the event. By engaging with the WMA system, participants will also qualify for a chance to win exciting wilderness-inspired prizes.
Florida boasts one of the nation’s largest systems of state-managed wildlife lands, covering over 6 million acres dedicated to wildlife conservation and public use. The FWC works diligently to maintain, enhance, and restore native habitats for the benefit of wildlife and the people of Florida.
